Slackbot Got Buff, Gemini Makes You Shine, and AI Just Got an Infinite Memory Upgrade

If you thought Slackbot was just that polite robot lurking in the corner of your work chats, think again. It just graduated from chatbot school and came back with a briefcase, a fresh suit, and probably some kale chips because it’s taking itself very seriously now.

Slack’s newest update turned Slackbot into something much cooler — a full-on AI coworker. Like, the helpful kind who doesn’t microwave fish in the break room. It now knows where EVERYTHING is in your workspace — your apps, your files, your messages, even that one weird document you saved five months ago and forgot existed. It can help draft emails, schedule meetings, and answer questions with perfect context. Basically, it's now that overachiever in the office who makes the rest of us look bad.

Oh, and the best part? You don’t even need to download anything new. It's already working for people on Business+ and Enterprise+ plans. (Sorry, free Slackters. Maybe someday.)

Gemini: For When You Want Your Face to Look Fancy

Need a new headshot that screams, “I am professional and definitely did not crop this from a wedding photo”? Enter Google Gemini.

You just upload a well-lit photo of your face — no selfies with dog filters, sorry — and pop in a little prompt telling it to make you look like a LinkedIn legend. You can even toss in a fancy reference picture for lighting style and outfit vibes. Gemini then zaps your image with some ultra-polished AI magic and pumps out a sleek, studio-level profile picture so legit even your grandma would think you're a CEO.

Great for resumes, dating apps, or pretending you woke up with perfect lighting and no pores.

MIT Just Gave AI a Superpower: Memory That Doesn’t Stink

Okay, real talk — most AI models have the attention span of a squirrel hyped up on jellybeans. They try to gobble up all your info at once and then totally forget the important bits halfway through.

But MIT said, “Hold my clipboard,” and gave AI a much needed brain upgrade.

Introducing Recursive Language Models (RLMs). Instead of cramming in every detail like it’s finals week, RLMs treat data like a searchable notebook. You ask a question, and it zips off to find just the page it needs and gives an answer that makes better sense.

This means AI can now handle 100x more info – like whole books, long emails, decades of documents, or every Star Wars fan theory ever written in one sitting. It's huge for people doing big work like legal stuff, code reviewing, and science-y things that involve lots of charts.

Basically, AI got a memory hack and it's now your nerdy best friend who takes perfect notes.

Other Cool Things to Know Today

  • Apple launched a mega bundle of creative tools (Final Cut Pro, Logic Pro, Pixelmator Pro, and more) for just $12.99/month — includes new AI features like "magic fill" and auto-generated presentations. Fancy!
  • Signal's creator launched “Confer,” an AI chatbot with Mission Impossible–level encryption. Not even hackers or the platform can read your chats. Take that, nosy internet!
  • ChatGPT 5.2 Pro recently crushed a math problem that had stumped humans for decades. Somewhere, a math teacher just cried into their slide rule.

AI Tools You Should Totally Know About (and Maybe Use)

  1. Pane – Your spreadsheets just got a personal assistant. Pane can read, write, and organize your sheets faster than you can say “pivot table.”

  2. Cowork for Claude Desktop – Claude just stopped being a chat-only tool and now it's your workplace wizard. Ask it to organize your messy files or build reports while you nap (or, you know, “brainstorm”).

The AI world is moving fast — and now, it’s organizing your folders, fixing headshots, and remembering things better than you. So maybe treat your friendly AI tools like teammates… just don’t spill coffee on your laptop. They hate that.
