Meet Operator: Your New Digital Errand Runner
Say goodbye to tedious online tasks with OpenAI's latest innovation that surfs the web and manages your chores like a pro.
OpenAI’s Operator: Your New Digital Sidekick (But Funnier)
Guess what? OpenAI just dropped a mic (or rather, a mouse) with its new digital buddy called Operator. And no, it’s not a telephone operator patiently connecting you to Aunt Mabel in 1967. This bad boy is an AI agent that can surf the web like a pro, manage your errands, and leave you wondering why you ever spent hours comparison-shopping flights to Cancun. Basically, Operator is your tech-savvy friend who actually reads the manual.
Operator uses something called "Computer Using Agent" (which we’ll just call CUA because we’re cool like that). It can book trips, order you a pizza with extra pineapples (yes, pineapple does belong on pizza, fight me), and even snag you those Taylor Swift tickets you’ve been dreaming about—if you’re lucky enough to still afford them after subscribing to AI tools.
It even narrates its thought process, sort of like having Morgan Freeman explain every click. “Here, I am purchasing your lactose-free almond milk. Magnificent, isn’t it?”
But does it mess up? Of course, like when your dog doesn’t catch the Frisbee because squirrels exist. It sometimes gets stuck, clicks the wrong buttons, or needs you to swoop in and save the day. Think of it as a super-smart intern who still needs a bit of supervision.
For now, it’s only available to OpenAI Pro users (fancy people paying for the really good stuff), but the rest of us peasants will get a shot soon, according to OpenAI. Keep your “book me a dinner reservation where they don’t judge my dessert choices” commands ready.
